TUTORIAL 2 : RPH TEMPLATE WITH DROP DOWN LIST

Assalamualaikum! Hello people! Today, I'm going to share something new for me related to how to make a drop down list in Excel. Scroll til the end of the post to download the template if you are too lazy to read it k. ^^

Tadaaa! As you can see, I've just finished editing a RPH template with drop down list items since I am that lazy to type and wasting more time on that. So, let me give you some tutorial on how to make one!

WHAT DO YOU NEED :

• Microsoft Excel (any version)
• DSKP (of any subjects that you teach)
• Patience (yessss)

HOW TO DO IT?

1. Launch the Microsoft Excel.

2. Click for Sheet 2 and rename it. (I renamed it as Monday).

3. Create a template of your RPH on Sheet 2. I just copied 2017's template and upgraded it in this kind of form. Simple black and white to save my ink for printing. 

4. Back to Sheet 1 (I renamed it as Drop Down List Menu). In this sheet, fill in the information that you will use for the drop down list items. Make sure you type it in LIST FORM. Just like this :

5. After that, select the rows and right click. Click "Define Name". Something like this (below) will popped up. Just rename the "MONDAY" on the popped up window to something related. So that later, you will use this "NAME" as the reference cells to make drop down list.

6. Then, click Sheet 2 (or whatever that you have renamed it). Click on the box that you want to apply the drop down list menu. Click Data, then click Data Validation. A popped up window will appear. Click List, then at the Source, type "=name". name here is the name that you used in Step 5. (Its a must to put the = sign)

  

7. To check whether it works, you can find it out immediately. It will turn out with a symbol at the end of the row for drop down list items. Like this :

Reading 9 : Months of the Year (Song) - Year 1

Hello there!

After the final exam, I realised that I faced a major problem in dealing with my pupils' weaknesses regarding spelling of the months of the year in English. I tried drilling, memorising and spelling test, none of it works well especially for the weaker pupils. So, I decided to come up with a song, which eventually matched with their styles of learning.

This lesson was conducted at the end of the year after the exam since we got plenty of time to waste. Hahaha. First, I distributed the lyrics and we read it together to ensure they got correct pronunciation. This drilling sessions went on and on for two days, without music, just plain reading on the first day, and slowly introduced them with the melody on the second day. So, on the third day, I brought my guitar and we started sing to the song with the melodies learnt.

I started sing with them line by line and repeat with verse by verse. After they managed to do it well, I continued with singing the entire song. The lyric is provided down here.

LA 20 : Mini Story Book

Hello there! So, to deal with post exam activities, I have prepared few activities that test their imagination and knowledge and this is one of them. Exposing them to few content from the Year 4 text book just to fill the remaining days before the holidays. We made a simple magic book, which is as follow (check the tutorial on how to make this book HERE) :

I only asked them to bring scissors and colour pencils, while I provided them with a white A4 paper each. Then, I taught them on how to make the mini book step by step. Seems like they had fun while doing this activity! I explained the content of each paragraph so that they can imagining on how to illustrate their mini story books. The text is taken from Year 4 textbook :

For your information, I did not prepare any sample in this activity as I just don't have the time to do something handwritten and decorative at the moment. Thank God they loved to do it on their own. These are their reactions while doing this activity. Some of them did pretty well and of course, they got variety of imaginations which can be seen in their drawings. :)

Overall, all of them did very well and illustrated it in a great way. Well, I got these two which I believed the best ones among all. Surprisingly, these two are boys' works. Congrats guys!

 P/s : As a post exam activity, this is one of the best for the pupils to reduce their boredom at school. Anyway, thanks for reading!
