L & S 7 : Building Poster (Ordinal Numbers)

Lesson : Listening and Speaking
Year : 5

In this lesson, I prepared a building poster to teach my students about ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on). The poster contains their names (which can be replaced with each other) to test the students' understanding about ordinal numbers. This activity also give the chances for the students to speak, and the teachers could related questions to check their further understanding. The names can be removed and replaced since I just slipped it in the spaces provided.

A sample of the building poster is as follows :

The activity is to remove and replace the names in any levels to test students' understanding of the ordinal numbers concept and how to read it. From the feedback, the students were able to get the content and concept very well based on this activity.

The material for this building poster is provided below :

Reading 6 : Stick Puppets (Elephants and Friends)

Lesson : Reading/Listening and Speaking
Year : 4

This lesson supposed to be under the topic of Animals in the Jungle. But, since the text was a bit hard for my students' level, I changed the story into Elephants and Friends. This activity basically done for reading skill but it can be altered to listening and speaking as well as writing too.

I used stick puppets as my main teaching aid since I did not prepared any big book for this story. I only used audio clip of the story during the lesson. The activity that I have conducted were true-false activity and also text dictation (students read and match the missing words from the text).

Samples of my stick puppets for this lesson are as follows :

I lost the frog stick puppet here :(

As usual, I've prepared the materials for this activity as in the link below :
