Lesson : Phonemic Awareness
Year : 2
In this lesson, I introduced the students with these phonemes first. Then, I started to divide them into groups and play the letter box activity.
What do you need?
Word cards (check the file uploaded below), a small box (to fill in the word cards), two tissue boxes (one for each phoneme)
How to do it?
- The students will draw lots word cards from the small box.
- The students say out the words that they got and put them into a phoneme box prepared (depends on what word they got, either with phoneme 'ew' or 'oe').
- The activity is continued until all students finish to draw lots.
- While waiting, the students will be given time to copy the words that they have learnt based on these two phonemes.
*Enrichment Activity (Writing Words Activity) :
- Prepare few laminated papers (I prepared 10 papers) and 10 whiteboard markers.
- Divide the students into groups (depends on your number of students).
- Start the 'Writing Words' Activity.
- The teacher will say out the words (based on phonemes learnt) and the groups need to write the words on the laminated paper correctly.
- If they got it wrong, marks will not be given.
- Make sure the students were able to say out the words too. (for bonus marks).
- Done!
