LA 32 : Toy Story Mini Book

Year : One
Skill : Language Arts / Listening / Reading / Writing
Topic : Let's Play

Assalamualaikum and Hi!

We're still in the last few contents from the topic Let's Play! So, yesterday, we had a simple lesson of making mini book. Its my Year One pupils' first time in making this mini book. So, it was a bit pretty hard for them. The sample of a mini book is like this.

First, I created this mini template. I just googled the pictures from the internet and combine it into a mini book like this.

At the beginning of the lesson, I showed them the trailers from the movie Toy Story 4. You can simply find this link from Youtube channel. (search Toy Story 4 official trailer).

Then, I asked them for the toys that they able to see in the movie. Then, using this template, I taught them to fold each line, and lastly cut the dashed line. Then, fold it to make a mini book. After that, the pupils need to trace the words inside it and colour all the pictures. That's all! So, here's some of my pupils' works.

That's all! Thanks for reading! :)

L & S 22 : Tangrams in the Making!

Skill : Listening / Language Arts
Year : One
Topic : Let's Play (Tangrams, page 30 - 31)

Assalamualaikum and Hi!

Its Friday! So, I decided to make the learning session a bit fun through the introduction of tangrams. Instead of providing them with the real tangrams or sheet, I taught them to make one using Origami paper. Pupils need to listen to the instructions given to ensure they make the tangrams template correctly. Folding, draw lines, more folding and more drawing lines until the template is done.

My tangrams look something like this one below. Since I can't afford to buy for them, so I just asked them to draw it. So, all of them can have it just like mine.

The good thing is, this tangram that I bought has many examples of things that can be made out of the tangrams. After the pupils finished their template, they cut it. Then, we learnt the names of each shapes, pupils write its names on each shapes. Later, they will choose any of the given examples (I draw few of them on the whiteboard or they can refer from their textbook), arrange it and paste it in their exercise book.

Eventually, not all of my pupils able to make it in time. So, they have the option to continue at home. Below are some scenes in my class today.

That's all. Thanks for reading! :)
